Thanks to the support of many individuals, corporations and foundations, the Children’s Trust Fund (CTF) is able to provide vital programs to strengthen families and prevent child abuse.

With the continued support of our generous donors, CTF can make Massachusetts a better place for children and families.

Meet our supporters

  Donor Profile: Ryan Hutchins

Ryan Hutchins is district manager for Gilbane Building Company and a member of the Friends of Children’s Trust Fund Board of Directors. We asked Mr. Hutchins to share his thoughts about family and his involvement in CTF

What lessons as a child did you learn that inform your own parenting?
Patience. My father and mother had so much of it. They always had time for me and my brothers. They were there at 6 a.m. for hockey practice and at 10 p.m. for homework.

You began your relationship with CTF as a sponsor. Why did you also join the Board and key committees?
Any contribution we make, however small, to help a child have a better childhood, we accomplish something great. Having CTF there to help provide that support is something I needed to be a part of.

What are your goals for CTF?
I would like to help ensure the CTF can continue to sustain its programs as well as develop new ones.

When people ask about CTF, what do you say?
Come to one event, hear one story, and meet one child. I’ll bet you stay and even come back for more.

Why should people join you as a CTF donor and volunteer?
All children are our future. Those of us who have the ability and means to help, should help. The return far outweighs the investment. No child should have to deal with abuse and neglect.

Thank you Ryan and Gilbane Building Company!

State Street: CTF Corporate Partner of the Year

Times are uncertain. With many businesses examining their expenses, charitable giving is often the first to be reduced or eliminated. That’s why we appreciate our corporate partnerships—particularly in today’s economy. At this year’s annual meeting, Children’s Trust Fund recognized State Street Corporation with our Corporate Partner of the Year Award.

A long-time supporter, State Street Corporation has been a leading sponsor of our annual Gala and Auction and our OneToughJob.org parenting website. Hector Lopez-Camacho, Vice President for State Street’s U.S. Investment Services and co-founder of their Latin American Professionals Group accepted the award on behalf of State Street. An active ally, Hector has helped promote our One Tough Job Spanish edition website. His dedication to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect is admired by all at CTF.

In addition to this rewarding partnership with State Street Corporation, State Street Foundation just awarded Friends of CTF a $25,000 grant. Their contribution will help sustain our Nurturing Fathers program, which educates Boston fathers on responsible parenting and the benefits of becoming more involved with their children.

Thank you State Street!

    Donor Profile: Paul Doherty

Shawmut Design and Construction is a national construction management firm with offices in Boston, New York, Providence, Las Vegas and New Haven. The company has always given generously and supported a wide range of causes. About four years ago, Shawmut leadership decided to review its strategies around giving.

Each member of the executive team was asked to identify a specific area of concern and lead the company in fundraising and volunteering. Paul Doherty, Vice President of Hospitality, felt strongly that services to benefit children would have to be an area of focus for the firm. He was guided by his own experience growing up in a large family.

Paul understands that the best way to help kids is to support their families. He has become an active Children’s Trust Fund Board Member, attending every event. He and co-worker Susan Kelley have even organized their own special event and fundraiser for CTF called “Smile Like a Child...Again,” a night of comedy, great food, and fun.

Paul and Susan have inspired other members of the Shawmut team and have since adopted the CTF-Funded Valuing Our Children Family Center in Athol. In addition to transforming the second floor of the building into much needed program space, the company supports the Family Center every year during the Holiday Gift Drive.

Shawmut’s commitment to the Children’s Trust Fund mission is evident in their philanthropy and their commitment to spreading the word about CTF.

Thank you Shawmut Design and Construction!
